Blog for a Cause: G2G Campaign

Give to Grady Hospital

Who is Grady Hospital?
Grady Hospital is Atlanta’s only Level I Trauma Center. It is a public/private partnership that relies on contributions from the private sector to continue its work. Their mission is to improve the quality of health care service for the Metro Atlanta's indigent, uninsured, and critical care patients through funding education, capital renovation, research & development, advanced medical technology, and support.

However, Grady needs your help..
The goal of this campaign is to raise $100,000 to make sure Grady Hospital can remain as metro Atlanta's only and Georgia's largest Level I Trauma Center. Also, Grady’s Perinatal Center and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) serves more than 40 counties in the north Georgia region.

What if we didn't have Grady Hospital???

People with life-threatening injuries would have to travel 100 miles outside of Atlanta to get proper care. [Watch Video]

Feelin' Glamorous

Excuse me for being slightly MIA, lacking on posts and whatnot... But no fear, i am on the edge of return. I've just been kinda busy with the wedding - Yep. I'm got married last Saturday to my love. And i couldnt be any happier!!!! The wedding was awesome and beyond whatever fancy i once had of a dream wedding. It was pretty intimate (only 50 guests) but at the same time I couldnt have asked for better group of people to share that day with. It was wonderful.

I cant wait to show u more pics!
Luv, Allie.

Something Like a Mini Tour

Excuse my absence; I’ve been missing for a few weeks. But it’s not in vain, I promise. Me & the FarOut crew had a performance at Princeton University! It’s was pretty damn awesome. Lol.

So what/who is FarOut exactly??? Well, 'FarOut Ventures' is a company that explores several types of entertainment & creative ventures, including but not limited to creative writing, music, film, and fashion, through individuals that have skills in those specified areas. But let's digress; we’ll get into that later.

We were invited to Princeton to perform at Hip Hop Art & Life’s "Women in Hip Hop Conference". It was so much fun! Bias and Glenn were the headliners out of the FO Camp. I was back-up singing. And Devan, our manager, made sure we got the most out of this occasion and everything ran smoothly. And Chi Chi, VP of HHAL and affiliate of FarOut, is so freaking dope! I appreciate her more than she knows for all of her help. Check out their blog

Other acts included-

Riva Flowz: Amazing doesn’t even begin to describe this photographer, writer, emcee, and poet whom is also featured on Def Poetry Jam. Read her blog.

Yafreici: Singer, emcee, and Urban Word Poet and one of the coolest people I met on this trip. Visit her Myspace Page.

3XL: Shayna, Menda, & Nikki, Feminist rap group. I love their style!

And DJ D.Scott: He did his thing. Much appreciated.

Guest Speakers included Dr. Cornell West, Amanda Diva, Shanti Das, and many, many more.

Overall, our trip was indescribable. Within 5 days we performed in Princeton, NJ; Philadelphia; and New York!!! We hung out with old friends, met new ones, and have never been busier! LOL.

Bias’ single (Stencil feat. Glenn) from his upcoming album, “Sent By Messenger,” has been getting good reviews. And its popularity is continuing to grow. This is a real exciting time for FarOut Ventures and I’m confident future experiences will be even more thrilling. ^_^.

Love,
Allie.

PS. Pics Coming Soon!!!

My Make-Up Story

Would u believe I bought foundation make-up
for the first time EVER yesterday?!

I know right! Lol. I don’t generally wear a lot of make-up, just lip gloss & eye make-up, but I’ve been curious. So, when my friend (Kierstyn) and I went to the mall the other day, I was like “why not? if i'ma get it, i might as well get it from a professional first.” So here I am, with foundation. (Yay!)

Me & Kierstyn

I bought Clinique. The make-up artist helped me find my complexion and put it on me. Then when I got home, my friend showed me how to put it on myself (Thank You, Kierstyn!). I also decided to try some green CoverGirl eye shadow.

Coolness ... Allie

Hey, Hey People

I’ve given into the pressures of my friends, pop culture, and society and got myself a Twitter page. But who am I kidding? I could never resist the Twitter Takeover. I’m so impressionable and easily succumb to peer pressure (on occasion. *wink). Lol.

So, you know the deal, follow me on Twitter @alliefarout. I’d really appreciate it.
Also, I don’t believe I say THANK YOU enough. I love you for following my blog and appreciate your comments.

So thank you, thank you, and thank you!
Please tell me what more you want to see: music related posts, pics & posts about me, fashion, artwork, ANYTHING! Just Lemme Know.

Also EMAIL ME if have any questions: allie.farout@yahoo.com or hit me up on Facebook. Don’t be shy, I don’t bite… unless u bark first. Lol. ;]

Love & Life,
Allie.

My Life...... My Hat

Today was a long, but much appreciated day. After my boyfriend and i went apt hunting, we did a little shopping at the mall. I found this cute & fabulous hat at Urban Outfitters on sale for $10.

I cant wait to rock it! It's FABULOUS!

Gym Class Heroes

What’s up everybody!
How was your week?

My week was okay. Just class… Anywho, on Thursday, I was really in the mood to do something but didn’t know exactly what to do. So I was on twitter…

Oh yeah, I have a twitter page: twitter.com/alliefarout. Follow me if u’d like. I try to twitter as often as I can. I would like to twitter more. Maybe if i had UberTwitter on my phone. But it's cool. Feel free to follow me. Please send me a message or something telling me u watch my blog, so I’ll know who u r. Thanks!!

But let’s digress… so Thursday, my boyfriend’s friend’s girlfriend tweeted something about going to the Gym Class Heroes concert @ GSU. And I was like u should go bcuz they’re cool and she invited me to go! (Awesome). I was up for it cuz she seems cool and I’ve been wanting to get outta the house all day.

So here’s some pics from the concert. Sorry it’s shaky… camera phones. Lol. But the concert was really cool:

They came back out cuz the crowd was screaming "Encore!"

Are u familiar with Gym Class Heroes? I realized I knew more of their songs than I thought when they performed them. “Cupid’s Chokehold,” they’re 1st single, is a dope song. I also like “Clothes Off.”

Yahoo!

My Friday was chill. And now it’s Saturday… I’m at work til 2pm. I might go to the movies with my bf & his family to see “Good Hair” (Chris Rock). Or we’ll go shopping. I dunno right now. But I’ll fill u in when things happen.

Love Ya!
Have a GREAT weekend! ^_^.

Piedmont Park

I went to an African America Exhibit (America I AM) with my family and then to Piedmont Park. We took some pics... take a look.

My dad love taking pics of everything!
Here's a pic of the whole family: My brothers, me, my parents, my boyfriend.

I had to do Quinton's hair before we left. His hair is as long as mines now... maybe longer.

We also took some pics of the scenery.
Piedmont Park is a beautiful place.

Four duscks and a turtle...

Yep that's my Atlanta. ^_^.

It's My Birthday

For the past month I’ve been fretting about what I’m gonna do for my 21st bday (Friday). At first I was gonna have a party with a Michael Jackson theme, just playing his music.

Happy Birthday Michael...
But then i changed my mind and i wanted a regular party. Well not a party… a chill-fest is what I called it. I thought it was perfect since Im not a go out a party all night kinda girl. Plus I don’t see my friends that much since I’m away at school, so this way I would get to see everyone at once.

That plan was crossed out. So I was gonna have a bday weekend. Friday, with Tobias (my boyfriend). Saturday, with my friends. And Sunday, with my family. But then I ran across some financial woos due to tuition. So maybe hanging out with the girls isn’t such a good idea.

Then, I gave up. I didn’t know what to do. I didn’t want a big day with my boyfriend because he’s helping me with my expenses and it would be unfair of me to put such pressure on him. But he wouldn’t settle for doing nothing because he knew how excited I was about my bday. So I told him to either buy me a gift, take me out to eat, the movies or something. But only one thing!

Anyway, I was super excited about turning 21! ^_^. To me, it’s about having a new confidence and about being legally grown. Before there were spots I was insecure about going into because I know it’s a grown place and they served alcohol. But now I’m swinging the doors open and stepping in like “oh yeah, I ‘m grown. U already know,” lol (in my mind. Lol). It’s also about being adult about your responsibilities. I see myself doing this already, but I guess there are some things I can be more accepting of. Anyway, I’m excited to be 21!

And I’m still smiling today. Yesterday, was… omg… it was sooo nice. The whole day was a surprise to me. First, when I woke up, it was raining really hard. But it was cool because I was still gonna have a great day.

We had to drop his mom off to pick up her car. But on the way back, we were driving through Atlanta, he asked me if I want to do something around the house or in the city. I figured he was up to something, so I chose to stay in Atlanta. We went to a small, nice “Corner Tavern(that was the name of the restaurant). Not fancy or anything, just chill, how I like it. It had an urban feel to it. I liked it a lot. I had a good time there. We took pictures of each other with our camera phones and had a great time. When we left, he told me his future bday plans to me and apologized for the lack of surprise. But it was a surprise. I didn’t know any of this was gonna happen. And even when u tell someone what’s gonna happen it’s still a surprise if they didn’t know about it. He originally planned to go to a place for desert but since we got so full at “Corner Tavern” he figured that wasn’t a good idea. (I recently told him I think it would be cool to go to a place just for desert and nothing else. Just sitting there talking over desert… Kinda romantic, I guess.) We agreed to go home for now and eat desert later.

On the way home, I mentioned going to GameStop to trade in Sims 2 for credit towards Sims 3. But his reaction told me he hadn’t planned to buy the video game or go to GameStop. So I retracted my idea. At home we watched Katt Williams’ “It’s Pimpin’ Pimpin’” with his mom. LOL. That was too funny. Katt Williams is crazy. lol.

After that we went to Applebee’s and shared a Blondie. It was pretty good. I also had my first (legal) drink: A strawberry margarita on the rocks. We talked and took more pics. I had a good time being with him so I moved to his side of the booth and we shared another Blondie. It was so sweet. I love him. Who knew my birthday would turn out so great!

We went home and started to unwind from our day. We had to take a finance quiz by 11PM so I started studying. Then I went over to the laptop to get online. When I adjusted the laptop, I saw "The Sims 3, Collector's Edition" behind it. My heart stopped. I figured I wasn’t supposed to see it, so I tried to play it off. Then he told me to look behind the laptop. I was so happy and was smiling sooo much. I’m a big Sims fanatic and had wanted it for a while. I didn’t even know he got it for me! I was so surprised, u have no idea!
Yesterday was amazing. ^_^. What a great introduction to a new year of my life.

Allie.
